Former
Megadeth/current
F5 bassist
David Ellefson has finished laying down the bass tracks for the sophomore album
The Alien Blakk, the band led by guitarist/producer
Joshua Craig.
"All bass music heard on the new record is the most creative I have ever heard in my life," commented
Craig. "I hear elements of
Les Claypool,
Flea,
John Paul Jones,
John Enwistle,
Tool and in such a creative and inventive way that this could very well be a bass Bible of sorts for a modern bassist. All have
Dave's personal approach and technique with the aforementioned artists approach woven throughout in their respective places. This is for certain a direction I am very proud of and look forward to the world hearing. Some of these songs clock in at around eight minutes and some are more straight ahead but all are very eclectic and unique from one another. I had the best time of my life and musical career working with
Dave on the new record, such a talent and great dude."
The drums on the new
The Alien Blakk album were laid down by
Kevin Talley (
Daath, ex-
Chimaira,
The Red Chord).
Craig previously described
Talley's performance as "
Daath meets
Matt Sorum's [approach] during the
Guns N' Roses days."
The Alien Blakk's sophomore album is tentatively due in late 2008/early 2009.
