Konqistador is totally unknown to me, I’m not very well educated in the arts of filthy rock, I mayored in gore. Well, enough nonsense. This band resides in Australia and creates a really sludgy kind of rock.
When I started listening to the first song, I instantly heard very chilled and spaced out rock influences, mixed through with some dirty vocals and sleezy guitar riffs. The tempo is not really that high, and during the album this certainly is not going to change. ‘Toro Montenegro’ is definitely one of my favourite tracks, because of the ‘oh so cool’ sleezy guitars that reminded me of Electric Wizard and also a little bit of Witchcraft. This kind of laid back course is followed during the album, with little extreme cool highlights. One song that is definitely worth checking out is ‘Camelot’, which really reminded me to some good ol’ Jefferson Airplane, except that the vocals are totally different. Another nice addition to the album is the cover of the Alice Cooper song ‘Ballad Of Dwight Frye’
Well, I can be quite short about this, it’s definitely an album to chill out with, but don’t expect extreme blasting rock highlights. There are a couple of very interesting songs on this album, but it tends to sound the same after a few tracks. Not at all boring though, but sometimes a little diversity is nice after all.
