Finally, a band that I know for quite a long time, and with a history on Metalrage. Japanische Kampfhörspiele (abbreviated JaKa) have tagged along for quite some time, first recording all their tracks on an 8 track taperecorder, later on in a normal studio. However, all the best tracks that JaKa have performed between 1998 and 2002 are now available on one beautiful Best of… album called “Fruher War Auch Nicht Alles Gut”
This is actually the first album I got, where I needed a scissor and some paste. This is because you get a separate piece of paper with miniature album covers, which you can paste into the main cover booklet. Very original, and actually fun doing while listening to the record and smoke a heavy blunt. I like that kind of thinking!
The tracks on the album are from their whole discography and feature very crappy recorded tracks like ‘Hand Ausrutscht’ and ‘Kugel Des Gerechten Killers’, which have an original musical direction. I recognized some songs from albums like JaKa and Hardcore Aus Der Ersten Welt.
Basically, this is a record that is compiled by tracks from a whole bunch of obscure and rare EP’s and 7 inches. This suits me perfectly, because I’ve not really heard any of those earlier tracks, because I started listening to JaKa’s self titled album.
Musically, you can expect a whole lot of genres, mixed along each other. Take a pinch of Napalm Death, mix it in with a lot of Nasum and leave room for some heavy dose of humour, and that perfectly described JaKa’s music.
Finally, I’ll say this is a must-have record for the
JaKa fans, but people who like obscure and weird stuff will probably have fun with it as well.
