I was presented with a lot of French underground grind bands this month, and here is one of them. Again from Dead Cirkus Records, Yattaï is the name of the band, and I know next to nothing about this band. From the booklet, which is also next to nothing, I can conclude this bands likes to party and smoke weed. Okay, here is the review of their 2006 demo.
The first song ‘Just The Two Of Us’ has some nice parts in it, with a very crusty sounding production. This band uses 3 vocalists for different kinds of vocal styles. I hear pig grunting vomits and high pitched shrieks, with some thrashing guitar on the background. The music is quite fast and uncontrolled but it isn’t so bad. This demo has 7 tracks and takes roughly 10 minutes to play. I would say this band tries a combination of grindcore with thrashy punk, as heard on the track ‘Cow Boys’. The last track title gave me a laugh too, because 'Beuarrgh!' is exactly the word to describe the music.
I would love to see this band live somewhere, because this music is often way better live. I guess this promotional effort isn’t that bad, but it needs some polishing. I definitely like the riffs, sounds and of course the rancid vocal style!
