After some split CD’s French Grinders Gastric Bürst have released their first full length… Demo d’Estomac. Yes, it’s a demo CD-R! And it comes with a black and white cover on very thick paper. A bit strange, since this CD-R is released by an actual record label. However, I’m pleasantly surprised when I push the play button.

If I hadn’t known, I would have guest they’re French. Not only because their (sometimes clean sung) lyrics are French. First comparison that comes to mind is definitely Gronibard, only more serious (or less retarded.) Groovy Gore Grind, Death Metal and straight up Grind Core mixed to a nice brutal brew of moshing music. Like the first 2 Gorerotted albums. For real underground fans: Gerbophilia (French speaking Swiss Grind Core band.) Gastric Bürst has 2 vocalists, which also reminds of the bands mentioned above. And they also use a lot of fun in songs, lyrics and image. My French is terrible, so I don’t completely understand the lyrics, but enough to know it’s a whole lot of hilarious bull, mocking everything and everyone they dislike in a weird humoristic way. Check out the titles below and you’ll get the idea.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised, ’cause this Demo sounds great! It doesn’t sound like a demo at all! Very nice production: transparent but brutal. The songs are played tight as a nun’s snatch and the groove causes severe neck-injuries after long periods of usage.

I could say every riff they play has been used a million times before. I could say I’ve already got a shitload of these records. But fact is: I love this kind of music, especially when it’s played this good. So I’ll just stack this one on the pile I play a lot ’cause it’s a keeper! Just for the record: although Gastric Bürst doesn’t play the most original music around, they do have a distinguished own sound. A cliché, but it’s true.

About the thick black and white cover: it looks pretty good, but I do hope they’ll sell a lot of demos, so the next full length can be professional, like this band deserves. Check out their website to see how cool they are in full color  www.deadcirkus.com/gastrickburst
