What we have is a mix of straight forward (pop)rock (‘n roll) and some serious stoner rock in the vein of Queens of the Stone Age. The band consists of the three Reynders brothers on drums, bass, guitar and vocals who were previously active in the hardcore band Heibel. They are joined by ex-El Fuse vocalist Alejandro Garrido, who also plays the guitar. Together they create a rocking machine called Cabrón.

 

The album is recorded very nice and clear, so that you can follow every move that they make. And I must say that I like most of their material, this is some easy going rock, suitable for listening while driving a car or something like that. Luckily it’s composed in a more modern way, without touching the adult orientated rock area too much.  But I’m not too keen on all the vocals on this album, which are all clean by the way. Like for instance in the track ‘My Obscurity’ some higher regions are approached, while the average singing level already is quite high, and it just starts to irritate me. Luckily when the next track kicks in I’ve already forgotten about this fact.

 

I must say that there are some cool parts on this selftitled release, but I must also point out that a lot of this disc passes by without me even noticing it. Even while I’m sober! Could be the too smooth production, could be their easy listening music. The fact is that if you’re into the more mellow stoner rock bands, this is definitely worth checking out.
