Orange Goblin is probably England's best known stoner metal (or stoner rock, depending on the biography you are using) band, combining heavy 70s like riffing, pounding drums and harsh soaring vocals that can only be executed when drinking a lot of whiskey.

The band's new album Healing Through Fire is released on Sanctuary Records and it's the band's fifth full lenght album; with a recurring theme through the whole disc; according to vocalist Ben Ward: "It's not a concept album at all, but we are using the theme of the Great Plague of London and the Great Fire that followed for a lot of lyrical and musical influence. It's definitely the strongest material we have written".

"Strong, is the power of the Force", a wise person once said. The same goes for this disc!
My favourite track of the album must be "The Ale House Braves", if drinking beer would have a sound it would sound like this. It rocks, it rolls, it's heavy and if you wake up with a headache in the morning you just need more of it to make it go away. This amazing track is followed by "Cities of Frost", which has a droning riff, rolling into a Black Sabbath-y ending. Awesome. To say that this record is pure "stoner rock" would be an understatement, sinds tracks like "They Come Back (Harvest of Skulls)" use riffs that could be written by Slayer, filling the need for some pedal-to-the-metal moments. And that Hammond-organ which shows up now and then just adds to the beer & sleeze factor.

Finally, some tracks could be a little bit shorter here and there, but this record is proof that there are still bands out there busting their asses of to play and record some badass rock `n roll. I wouldn't suggest it to your emo-loving girlfriend or sister; but if you have balls, you should get it.
