Scum is the "blackmetalpunk" band featuring guys like Amen’s Casey Chaos on vocals and ex-Emperor’s Samoth (guitars) and Faust (drums) and the band is rounded out with Cosmocrator on guitar and Happy-Tom on bass. This one-track preview cd features the song "Protest Life", a track from their debut record 'Gospels For The Sick'. Personally I’ve only read about the band, but haven’t gotten around to actually check some stuff. The record has been out for a while but I guess the label wants to push it a bit.

The band pretty much sounds like an old thrash-punk band, with an unpolished black metal production to it. Basically down and dirty! Not much more to say about it actually, it's an anthematic song, some great riffs, tight drumming and headbangable moments. If this track is a good indication of the rest of the cd, I should get my own copy of Gospels for the Sick (which has been out since September)

Heard the album today and I really like it, it has a quite variagated range in styles and the production is nasty and raw, just as it has to be with a band like Scum.

Hell yeah!
