This band doesn’t need an introduction anymore. Kataklysm from Canada have proven that they can produce ultra brutal sounding records like Shadows & Dust and Serenity In Fire. A little while ago I received their newest treasure called In The Arms Of Devastation. Of course I was very, VERY curious about this new album. It took me 2 weeks to listen it thoroughly.

The album starts out with "Like Angels Weeping" and of course it begins with an intro. Not a long intro this time and after 6 seconds it crashes loose. Ultra cool headbanging riffs combined with melodic passages that are brutal as well! The second song Let Them Burn follows really well and dammit what a song is this! Low grinding guitars and ultra fast drumming with that special technique few drummers have mastered. That was something I also encountered, because Max Duhamel returned to the drumming seat instead of Martin Maurais. I don’t know why he left the band, but to be honest I can’t hear any difference. It’s just awesome! "Crippled & Broken" is one of the headbanging tracks of this album, constant, simple and brutal. My favourite track is "Open Scars", which is one of the fastest tracks on the album. Nice drumming combined with thrashy guitar riffs always is good food for me.

After hearing this record many times, I can conclude that Kataklysm have created yet another masterpiece in a row. I would consider this a really nice hat-trick, speaking in soccer terms. This is an album that an average metal-head can’t miss in his collection and the really good news is: The record is available in a couple of days!
