Who doesn’t wish for the rise of a band that makes music in the style of Black Sabbath, without being a copycat? You don’t? Then you’re an asshole! But for those who do, your prayers have been answered!

Yes I know that is a hefty statement to do, but it’s goddamn true! Norway has produced a magnificent band, that combines the heaviness and groove of grandmasters Black Sabbath with some killer stoner rock. They claim to be fans of acts like Electric Wizard, Pentagram, Kyuss and Monster Magnet, and that surely can be heard on ‘Sagh 1’. If I was over forty years old I’d say I’m reliving my best years again!
While typing this review, I’m listening to the album stoned for the first time, after not hearing it for a couple of days. Now it really hits me, this stuff rocks on a divine level. It sounds like the Sabbath’s better years over here, with some more in your face riffs, occasionally.
The production is very smooth, it all sounds very fluently and natural, which makes it a very relaxing album to listen to.

But no, there is more! Their vocalist can adapt to most vocal styles that Black Sabbath have ever had, usually with some more effects over them, but that only enhances the psychedelic side of the album. I also hear some Goatsnake like singing too, which can be nice. This guys sounds different in every song, but seems to have a real good idea on how the likes of Ozzy and Ronny James created his vocal lines. And I don’t even like Ronny James Dio, go figure! And did I mention that King ov Hell from Gorgoroth is in this band as well, for those interested.

To conclude this, if you’re into heavy classical rock with a dose of stoner in it and you don’t check this out, you will very seriously regret this later. I feel comforted with the fact that if one of the Black Sabbath members dies, there’s always gonna be Sahg.

Cool, their vocalist is the same as in Manngard... I guess he should do this then instead of screaming.
